Wage and Benefit Agreements

The Massachusetts Police Association (MPA) has undertaken a comprehensive effort to obtain and maintain a library of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) from law enforcement agencies across the Commonwealth. This initiative provides our members with a valuable reference tool designed to enhance awareness, leverage, and parity in the collective bargaining process.

Purpose and Benefits

By centralizing access to CBAs statewide, members are now able to:

  • Compare wages, benefits, and working conditions across municipalities of similar size and scope.

  • Identify trends in contractual improvements, such as scheduling models, stipends, educational incentives, and leave provisions.

  • Support negotiation strategies with accurate, up-to-date examples from peer departments.

  • Promote transparency and consistency in the treatment of officers across the Commonwealth.

This initiative not only streamlines access to information but also empowers local associations with the data and context necessary to negotiate from an informed and equitable position.

Value to Members

Having these agreements readily available allows MPA members to:

  • Quickly benchmark their contracts against comparable agencies;

  • Strengthen proposals during bargaining sessions with verifiable comparisons;

  • Utilize successful provisions from other departments as models for their own negotiations; and

  • Ensure that their officers remain competitive in pay, benefits, and quality-of-life provisions.

The MPA’s goal is to provide every member with a strong foundation for fair and effective bargaining, supported by real-world examples and comprehensive data from departments throughout Massachusetts.
