This past week, Governor Healey was sworn in along with other constitutional officers. Not only is Healey the first female governor, women now control four of five constitutional positions. The lone male, William Galvin remains as secretary of state. Democrats control all offices as well as overwhelming majorities in the legislature.
President Spilka and Speaker Mariano will continue to lead the Senate and the House respectively.
Legislation for the new session must be submitted by January 20th. Legislative committees should be organized in early February with hearings beginning shortly after.
In closing, we send our condolences to the Stoughton and Brockton Police Departments who lost officers over the holidays.
Stay safe and stayed tuned for updates.
