Last week, the House completed budget debate with abortion debate taking center stage. Worried that the US Supreme court may act on Roe v. Wade, the House passed safeguards to assure women would still be able to end their pregnancy. The rest of the budget passed with little debate and few amendments.
We were fortunate that amendment 192 that extends the waiver on retiree earnings during the covid emergency was one of the few accepted. We thank the House for their support. The same language has been filed by Senator Creighton (amendment 3) in the Senate budget scheduled for debate this week. We will be watching closely to see any significant changes.
