| The House began debate on a 46 billion dollar fiscal 21 budget. Delayed 7 months due to covid, the House uses nearly 2 billion from the rainy day fund to maintain services. Although Speaker DeLeo warned they would not consider policy amendments, we along with Massachusetts Retirees are looking to extend the waiver of earnings for retirees during the declared emergency. Chapter 53 passed earlier this year that waived the earnings limits would expire at the end of the year. Amendment 192 would extend that into 2021 while the emergency still exists. The Senate will release their version Thursday with debate scheduled for next week. Any differences will be decided by a conference committee. |
