MPA Awards Nominations

The Massachusetts Police Association is proud to announce that the 2025 Awards Nomination Period is officially open for recognition at the 125th MPA Annual Convention this October.

Each year, we gather to honor the bravery, dedication, and service of Massachusetts law enforcement professionals—and we need your help identifying this year’s most deserving recipients.

Award Categories:

Medal of Honor

Presented to the families of officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Past honorees include the families of Officer Jack Maguire (Woburn PD), Officer Kevin Ambrose (Springfield PD), Sergeant Sean Gannon (Yarmouth PD), and Sergeant Michael Chesna (Weymouth PD).

Medal of Valor

Awarded for an extraordinary act of courage and heroism while knowingly facing imminent life-threatening danger.

Meritorious Service Medal

Recognizes remarkable achievements under challenging circumstances where lives were at risk or great harm was averted.

Lifesaving Medal

Celebrates officers who perform extraordinary physical acts or render life-saving medical aid to preserve human life.

Distinguished Service Medal

Honors exceptional professional accomplishments, such as solving a cold case or other outstanding work in the field.

Chief Paul Doherty Award

Awarded for outstanding contributions to the advancement of the police profession. Recent recipients include Greg Hill (The Greg Hill Foundation) and Chief Frank Frederickson (Yarmouth PD).
